The W29 was initially presented in 1984. In 1988 the rear transom was a little changed from almost vertical to a reverse design and the design designator altered to W30. The W30 model continued in production up until the manufacturing facility closed. The last well-known Watkins boat to be developed by the manufacturing facility was a W30 whose hull was molded in April of 1989 as a 1990 model. Overall production of the W29 & & W30 was 88 boats. A minimum of 60 of the total amount were W29's leaving less than 28 which might be W30's. The boat is sailboat rigged with a 4' draft and a skeg mounted rudder. Her interior offers accommodations for 5 including a quarter berth with the choice of a take out double berth to port. Requirement gadgets includes diesel engine, pressure water, shower, eight opening ports, bulkhead mounted table and coast power. The galley is to starboard with a sink, stove, icebox and storage. There is a hanging locker reverse of the head forward. Headroom is 6'3" and her mast height above DWL is 40'1". The hull is molded as a single device of a combination of polyester resin and fiberglass woven roving and multidirectional chopped strand fiber (MCSF). The keel is molded integrally with the hull and all ballast is contained within. The deck and cockpit, like the hull, are formed as a single unit of a mix of polyester resin and fiberglass woven roving and MCSF. Plywood coring is incorporated between layers of fiberglass in the cabin top, deck, seat, and cockpit sole locations to give added stiffness. The non-skid surface is formed into the deck. The exterior finish is pigmented gelcoat molded onto the fiberglass. The boot and sheer stripe are also gelcoat molded completely into the hull. The hull-to-deck joint is a 'flange' type, which throughout assembly, is liberally covered with a combination adhesive/sealant. The deck is then decreased onto the hull and fastened in location with stainless-steel screws. The aluminum toe rail is then set up, bedded in a heavy layer of the very same substance and secured in place with stainless steel through bolts. There is a haws pipe feeding the anchor rode into the v-berth locker, there are teak grab rails on the cabin top and a big aft cockpit with excellent back rests and locker. The companionway decreases to seat height, about 12" above the cockpit sole. The interior is a molded fiberglass unit with bulkheads and cabinets secured to it with adhesives, screws, and bolts. The interior molded assembly is bonded to the hull with woven roving and mat, that when completed, forms a single unit structure having terrific strength and rigidity. The interior is doned with hand rubbed teak accents and the bulkheads and cabinets is teak veneered plywood. The cabin sole is teak & & holly veneer plywood. The interior layout is common with a V-berth forward, the head (to port) and lockers (starboard) divide it from the primary salon location which has a fold-up table. The port side settee takes out to create a double berth, the starboard is a single. Aft and to port is a quarter berth and to starboard is the galley which initially had an icebox and either a gimbaled 2-burner alcohol or gas stove with oven. The electrical panel lies promptly under the companionway, and the stairs remove to allow access to the engine. There are 8 opening ports and one big deck hatch.
